CHC42015 - Certificate IV in Community Services


This qualification reflects the role of community service workers who design and deliver person-centered services to individuals and/or groups. Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual clients, groups or communities across a range of services.

At this level, workers may be autonomous with limited responsibility within established parameters and may be required to supervise and lead other workers in projects or teams. Work may take place in a range of community service, case work or case management contexts.


This program is designed to build on participant’s basic skills and will equip them with skills and knowledge to fulfil a large number of roles such as:

• Client support roles

The course comprises 15 Units of Competency

1.CHCADV001 : Facilitate the interests and rights of clients

2.CHCCCS004 : Assess co-existing needs

3.CHCCOM002 : Use communication to build relationships

4.CHCDIV001 : Work with diverse people

5.CHCLEG001 : Work legally and ethically

6.CHCPRP001 : Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships

7.HLTWHS003 : Maintain work health and safety

8.CHCCDE003 : Work within a community development framework

9.CHCDIS008 : Facilitate community participation and social inclusion

10.CHCCOM001 : Provide first point of contact

11.CHCDIS010 : Provide person centered services to people with disability with complex needs

12.CHCDIS004 : Communicate using augmentative and alternative communication strategies

13.CHCMHS001 : Work with people with mental health issues

14.BSBMGT401 : Show leadership in the workplace

15.BSBMGT403 : Implement continuous improvement

• Completed year 10 or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Have enough LLN skills to enable reading and analysing relevant legislative, regulatory and industry documentation

Upon successful completion of all requirements for this qualification graduates will be awarded CHC42015 - Certificate IV in Community Services. Participants exiting prior to completion of all requirements will be awarded a Statement of Attainment from CHC42015 - Certificate IV in Community Services - for those units successfully completed at the time of exit. However, Australian Learning Institute cannot accept, and expressly disclaim, all responsibility and liability in respect to participants failing this qualification in part or in whole. Furthermore, Australian Learning Institute cannot be held responsible in respect to finding participants any position opening, during and/or after completion of this qualification. It is the individual responsibility to seek external resources that may assist in finding work and a suitable position.
Students will be asked to commit to a total of up to 11.5 hours per week study for a period of up to 52 weeks. Assessments consists of work tasks, written questions, report and/or project
Students are issued with learning materials and handouts relevant to each unit.
Assessments vary with each unit. You will be provided with an assessment guide.
